DISCIPULA is a collective operating in the field of contemporary visual research founded by Marco Paltrinieri, Mirko Smerdel and Tommaso Tanini. Working across a range of practices — varying from art installations, performances and publications to workshops and lectures — DISCIPULA focuses on the exploration of the role and uses of images in the contemporary mediascape.
Our artistic research revolves around the analysis, appropriation and postproduction of images extracted from the daily flow of production and consumption.
Considering teaching as a stimulating moment of exchange and growth, we lecture and give workshops on both theoretical and practical aspects of our practice.

L'INVENZIONE DEL BUIO
It is finally out "L'Invenzione del Buio" a new book by Discipula in collaboration with the philosopher and member of the Action 30 collective Pierangelo Di Vittorio. Outcome of an artist’s residence promoted by Of(f) the Archive in 2018, in which we were invited to work on material stored in the photo library of the Archaeological Superintendence of Bari, “L’Invenzione del Buio” (tr: The invention of darkness) is a book where text and images chase each other in the creation of a story where the boundaries between documentary research, speculative theory and fiction seem to dissolve into one another.
